Premier League Review For GW 20

Premier League GW 20 was filled with a lot of excitement, drama and goals. Keep reading this site for some analysis on all the games from last week.



Luton Town 2-3 Chelsea

Chelsea started the game on the front foot and got a couple of chances early on. Cole Palmer opened the deadlock and steered Chelsea into a 1-0 lead. Kaminski initially made a save which denied Jackson at his near post, however it fell to Palmer and he made no mistake with the finish. Just before half time Madueke gave Chelsea a two goal cushion where he smashed the ball into the roof of the net. Luton came out into the second half eager to turn the game around. They had a couple of chances however couldn't capitalise as Palmer got his second of the match and his 8th of the season. Soon after, Ross Barkley got his head on a Luton corner and gave them hope late on. Luton kept creating chance after chance as Adebayo gave them their second of the game. Overall a solid performance from both sides, however Chelsea came away with all 3 points.



Crystal Palace 3-1 Brentford


Brentford started the game with a goal inside 90 seconds as Mathias Jensen flicked the ball around the corner to Roerslev who fizzed the ball into Lewis-Potters path who made no mistake with the volley. Palace responded quickly with a goal in the 14th minute as Jordan Ayew picked out Olise with a wonderful cross to the back post where Olise was there to tuck it in with the outside of his left boot. Brentford had a couple of chances to take the lead, however couldn't take them and were punished by a delightful finish into the bottom right corner from Eberichi Eze who is back with a bang after his injury. Olise more or less secured the victory for the Eagles to get his

second of the game with a delicate shot into the bottom right corner.

Aston Villa 3-1 Burnley


Aston Villa got the first opportunity of the game with an Ollie Watkins volley that went straight down the throat of James Trafford the Burnley keeper. Just before the half hour mark Burnley got their first chance of the game with a shot from outside of the box from Josh Brownhill who couldn't convert. Immediately after, Watkins found Leon Bailey who fired Villa in front with a ferocious finish. Burnley responded quickly as Amdouni got them level after O'shea got his head on the free kick and set him up for his 3rd of the season and Burnley's first of the game. Just before the end of the first half, Ollie Watkins put the ball on a plate for Diaby where he tucked away his 2nd home goal of the season. Ten minutes after the restart Burnley found themselves down to ten men as sander Berge picked up his second yellow of the game. Aston Villa created chance after chance however couldn't double their advantage. Lyle Foster then found himself 1 on 1 with the keeper and equalised for Burnley. Villa were searching and searching for a late winner and Duran got in front of Delcroix and earnt them a penalty late on. Douglas Luiz stepped up and converted the penalty as it hit the crossbar bounced off the floor hit the crossbar again and finally made it's way into the back of the net. A solid performance from both sides but it was Aston Villa who get the 3 points.

Manchester City 2-0 Sheffield United

Man city started the game strong and began creating chances

early on as they normally do. They were looking to finish the year with

a bang as they won many great trophies in 2023. Rodri opened the

deadlock inside 14 minutes to continue their success on the final day

of the year. Foden held off Vinicius Souza the Brazilian international and Rodri took over and made no mistake with the shot from outside of the box. Sheffield United managed to get a couple of chances but nothing came from them. The second half started and City were once again on the front foot as Phil Foden got his second assist of the game and Alvarez got his goal to double their advantage. Overall a pretty solid performance from the champions and a good clean sheet as their last clean sheet came in game week 10 away at Manchester United.

Wolves 3-0 Everton

Wolves started off the better side as they got an early chance as Hwang squared the ball to Matheus Cuhna however Branthwaite was there to make a crucial block. Wolves earnt themselves their first corner of the game inside 25 minutes. The corner was whipped in by Pablo Sarabia and cleared by James Tarkowski however only as far as Doyle who got the ball back out to Cuhna this time who crossed the ball into the box and found Craig Dawson whose shot was brilliantly saved by Jordan pickford who parried it only as far as Max Kilman who tucked away his first goal of the season. The Wolves players immediately went and held up Mario Lemina's shirt to show their support for him as his Father who sadly passed away recently. The toffees best opportunity of the half came from a Dwight Mcneil through ball to Calvert-Lewin who put it wide of the post. Wolves started the second half well has Hwang made a nice run for Sarabia to play a through ball to him which he did as the Korean international squared the ball to Cuhna who passed it into the empty net. Wolves wanted to put the game to bed and that it exactly what Craig Dawson did on the hour mark. Cuhna picked out Dawson with a nice ball into the 18 yard box and Dawson stuck out a leg to poke the ball into the back of the net to kill the game off and secure all 3 points for Wolves.


Nottigham Forest 2-1 Manchester Utd


Both sides started slow as there weren't many chances in the first half. Diogo Dalot got the first real opportunity in the game to have a pop at goal as he hit the post early in the second half. Not long after Nuno's side opened the scoring in the 64th minute with an arrowed strike from Dominguez into the bottom left corner who gave Onana no chance. Marcus Rashford got the equaliser for United as Turner gifted the ball to Garnacho who found Rashford who stroked the ball into the bottom right corner. Man United were in search for a winner as Erikson forced a stop from Turner who parried it only as far as Dalot whose misplaced pass led to a Nottigham Forest counter attack which Yates led as he carried the ball up the pitch and found Swedish international Anthony Elanga who gave Gibbs white no option but to shoot and that's what he did as he placed it into the back of the net to win the game for Nottigham Forest. Overall a fully deserved 3 points for Nuno's side and a pretty poor display from Manchester United.


Fulham 2-1 Arsenal

Arsenal took the lead early on, as Martinelli cut in from the left and tried to bend it past the former Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno who saved the shot initially, however it fell to Saka who reacted quickly to give Arsenal the advantage. Fulham started to create chances and didn't let the early lead affect them from losing the game. Fulham equalised pretty much on the half hour mark as Raul Jimenez continued his goal scoring run to finish a great move from Fulham. Former Arsenal man Willian whipped in a corner which Palhinha got his head to, to try and head it towards goal, however it dropped to Decordova Reid who smashed the ball into the roof of the net to give Fulham the lead for the first time in the match. Arsenal were trying to find an equaliser as Saka had an opportunity too, however he blazed the volley over the bar. Fulham managed to hold out and get a fantastic 3 points at home.

Tottenham 3-1 Bournemouth


Spurs started off the better side as Pape Sarr fired the home side in front with a prominently placed finish into the bottom right corner. Tottenham continued playing well and on the front foot and got more chances to double their advantage. The Tottenham goal scorer Pape Sarr got injured half way through the first half. Luckily for him he is fit enough to attend the afcon cup of Nations and play for Senegal. Bournemouth started to creep back into the game and started to create chances. Nothing came from them as Spurs led 1 goal to nil at the break. the second half commenced and Bournemouth came out as they finished the 1st half (on the front foot). Spurs still created chances as Son doubled their advantage with an exquisite finish into the right hand side of the goal after an immaculate pass with the outside of the boot by Giovani Lo Celso. Ange's side didn't take their foot off the gas as Richarlison got his 6th of the season and made sure that Tottenham got all 3 points. Alex Scott gave Bournemouth a late consolation with a guided finish into the bottom right corner. A solid performance from Tottenham and a good win to finish off the year.


Liverpool 4-2 Newcastle

Liverpool started the better side and got the crowd behind them and put pressure on Newcastle early on. Luis Diaz earnt the home side an early penalty. Salah stepped up to take the penalty, however couldn't convert as the Slovakian international Martin Dubravka denied him. Trent also missed the follow up as he fired it over the bar. Chances went Liverpool's way in the 1st half, however as the game went on Newcastle grew into it. Either side could take the lead in a goalless first half. Salah finished off a nice move from Liverpool to open the scoring in the second half. The Magpies responded quickly as a Gordon through ball set Isak off 1 on 1 with Alisson where he made no mistake with the finish. Liverpool got their noses back in front with a really well worked goal once again as Salah slipped it through to Jota who squared it to Curtis jones who passed it into the empty net. Liverpool added to their lead as Cody Gakpo got his third of the season and Liverpool's third of the game. Salah played a wonderful outside of the boot ball to Cody gakpo who scuffed the finish a little bit but it didn't matter. Sven Botman gave Newcastle hope as he got his head on the corner that was taken by Sean Longstaff. Salah then restored Liverpool's two goal cushion with a penalty that he made no mistake with this time to say his goodbye before he goes to the Afcon cup of nations. Jota went down as he went around the goalkepper. Minimal contact was made however it was enough for the referee and Var to give the penalty. Liverpool came out on top in six goal thriller!


West Ham United 0-0 Brighton


West Ham got the first opportunity of the game however Brighton kepper Steele denied Ward Prowse a fourth goal of the season. It was then Areaola's turn to make a good save which he did as he denied Hinshlewood. Chances went both ways in the first half. The Seagulls looked the better side in the second half as Areola had to make many great saves to deny Brighton from opening the deadlock. The final chance of the game went Adam Lallana's way as he tried to find the bottom left corner, however wasn't able to as Areola got a strong hand to it. The game ended goalless as both sides shared the points at the London stadium.
